The desk is the storage. Pull the drawers out, fold the center divider away, and the cavity becomes a tabletop; restore the divider and it is drawers again. That is clever and it is also a choice you make every time, because the two functions occupy the same volume. A child who needs homework space four evenings a week will leave it as a desk, and the six drawers the bunk was bought for will be four drawers. Work out which mode the room actually needs before the storage fills.

How it lives in the room

Six drawers or one desk, not both

Decide the default and set the room up around it. As a desk it needs a chair and clear floor in front; as storage it wants nothing in the way of the pull. Switching back and forth sounds easy on paper, and in a real bedroom it means unloading a drawer before homework. Pick the mode that matches four evenings out of five.

Switch the staircase to the door side

The stair assembly mounts left or right and the choice is permanent enough that it is worth standing in the room first. Put the climb where it does not cross the door swing and where a child coming in at night reaches it without passing the end of the lower bunk. The drawers then face front or back around that decision.

A floor-level lower bunk is seating

Keeping the lower sleeping surface close to the ground makes it easy for a younger child to climb in and out, and it also makes the lower bunk the place both children sit in the evening. Expect it to be used as furniture rather than only as a bed, and buy bedding that survives being sat on.

Before you order

The lighting runs to sixteen million colors with music sync, controlled by app or remote. In a shared room that is two children with access to one light. Setting a dim warm default and keeping the remote out of the bunk saves an argument every night at bedtime.
