The joint, not the surface

Anyone can wrap particleboard in a convincing wood grain. What separates a dresser that survives a move from one that racks and leans is how the drawer box is joined, whether the back panel is nailed into a groove or stapled to the outside, and how many cam locks are carrying load. We specify metal drawer slides and grooved back panels on the case goods where it matters, and we say so on the product page instead of leaving it to be discovered on assembly night.

The box, not just the piece

A queen storage bed is a large object. It arrives as two or three cartons that have to come through a doorway, up a stairwell and around a landing. We design for the carton as much as the finished piece, which is why the bed frames split at the rails and the taller dressers ship with the top separate.

The second purchase

Finishes are held steady on purpose. The warm oak on a dining table is the warm oak on the sideboard and on the six-drawer dresser. Matte black is one matte black. If you buy a bed this spring and a nightstand next winter, they should still look like they came from the same house.
