How it lives in the room

Count the edge, not the seats

Six chairs want about 24 inches of table edge each. On a round 51-inch top that works; on a 42 it does not, whatever the listing says.

Build all six together

Same four fixings each. Assemble in a line rather than one at a time and the whole set takes half an hour instead of an evening.

Then check the feet

Metal legs on a hard floor need pads. Fit them before the first meal, not after the first scratch.

Before you order

Do not fully tighten any bolt until every part of a chair is loosely in place. Chair frames rack if the first joint is locked down early, and a racked frame is the usual cause of a wobble that no amount of later tightening will fix.
