Accessibility

We aim at WCAG 2.1 Level AA for this site and test against it as pages change.

What is in place

• Semantic structure. One h1 per page, headings in order, real landmarks for header, navigation, main content and footer, so a screen reader can jump between sections instead of reading the whole page.
• Keyboard operation. Every link, button and form control on the site is reachable and operable with Tab, Enter and the arrow keys. Nothing depends on hover or on a pointing device. Focus is always visible.
• Contrast. Body and heading text is checked against its background at 4.5:1 or better; large text and interface elements at 3:1 or better. The warm palette on this site is deliberately darkened where it carries text.
• Images. Product photographs carry descriptive alt text naming the piece, not a filename. Decorative shapes are hidden from assistive technology.
• Text sizing. Layout is fluid and holds together at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
• The size calculator. Every control has a real label, and results are written into a live region so a screen reader announces the answer when the numbers change.
• Motion. There is no autoplay, no carousel that moves on its own, and nothing that flashes.

Where we know we fall short

• Product photography comes from studio shoots and some images carry text baked into the picture that alt text can only summarise.
• Once you follow a Buy button you are on a retail partner's site, whose accessibility is theirs and not ours.

Accessibility in the furniture itself

Two things in the catalog are worth knowing about. Bed frames in the 14-inch platform height range put the sleep surface at a height most people can transfer to and from without a step. Dining chairs without arms slide under a table with a wheelchair beside it, and the armless sets in the dining collection are listed as such on their product pages.
