6 Drawer Dresser with LED Lights
The floating effect here is an old cabinetmaker’s trick brought up to date. Setting the plinth back from the front face puts the base in shadow, so the carcass reads as if it were hovering; adding a light strip in that recess completes the illusion after dark by washing the floor rather than the furniture. It works properly on a hard floor, where the light has something to reflect off, and only partially on a deep carpet that swallows it. The six drawers behind the handle-free fronts are ordinary in the best sense — deep, quiet and unremarkable.
