Vintage-toned finishes exist because perfect surfaces are a burden. This one has a wood grain with variation and a slightly aged colour, and the practical consequence is that a scuff on it reads as character rather than as damage. How it lives in the room

Let it be a work table

This finish is at its best when the table is used for everything — meals, homework, jigsaw puzzles, folding laundry. Protecting it as though it were a polished antique wastes the reason to choose it.

Still use a mat for craft
