Eight doors across 47 inches means every leaf is narrow, which is a quiet advantage. Narrow doors need only a few inches of swing, so this cabinet works in a galley kitchen or against a wall opposite an island where a pair of wide doors would block the walkway every time they opened. How it lives in the room

Narrow doors, short swing

Measure the walkway in front, not just the wall. Each leaf opens into a few inches rather than a couple of feet, which is why this shape suits tight kitchens, and it means two adjacent doors can be open at once without fighting each other over the same patch of floor.

The microwave bay never moves

Shelves inside adjust, the open bay does not. It is a fixed opening at a fixed height, so check the microwave fits in both plan and elevation before buying, and remember a machine with a hinged door needs clearance at the side it opens towards.

Keep the plug run behind the plinth

A 1.5-meter cord reaches a socket within about five feet. Work out the direction it leaves before the cabinet is pushed back against the wall, tape it to the rear panel, and the hutch sits flat instead of standing proud of the skirting on a loop of cable. Doing it afterwards means emptying the shelves first.

Before you order

MDF panels of this size are heavy, and a loaded 71-inch hutch cannot be walked along a wall on its own. Fit the included anti-tipping kit, and if the kitchen layout is undecided, settle that before assembly rather than after.
