Enclosed is the word to pay attention to. With the sidewalls and doors fitted, this is a closed 200 square foot tent, and a closed tent over a vehicle traps whatever moisture came in with it. That is why the double mesh windows exist, and why they should be open more often than a nervous owner expects. A car put away wet behind zipped doors in October comes out in March with surface rust on the brake discs and damp carpets.

How it lives in the room

Keep the mesh windows working

Open them whenever the weather allows, even in winter. Air moving through a closed shelter is what carries condensation out, and condensation is the one thing an enclosed cover adds compared with an open carport. Roll them down in driving rain and up again the next dry day.

Ball ties, then the doors

Tension the tarp with the bungee ball ties first and hang the doors afterwards. Zips on a slack cover pull out of line and will not close; zips on a cover tightened after they were fitted end up under load. The elastic is deliberate, so leave the ties springy rather than straining them.

Ballast every one of the eight feet

Oxford sandbags on each leg and wind ropes to stakes set outside the footprint. An enclosed shelter catches far more wind than an open frame because there is nowhere for it to pass through, and that pressure has to go into the ground somewhere. Check the stakes again after the first gale.

Before you order

Not recommended for snowy conditions, stated twice in the specification for good reason. Water and snow pool in the middle of a tarp span rather than running off, so drop the cover before winter weather or expect the roof to pond and stretch.
