Aluminium bleachers are the reason this product category exists: a flat plank, no back, and three hours of a tournament. This seat puts 2.8 inches of padding under you and a 13.3-inch backrest behind you, and hooks over the front edge of the bench with two steel hooks so it cannot creep forward when you lean back. Folded it goes flat, and at 4.4 pounds with a handle and a shoulder strap it is light enough that it actually gets taken rather than left in the garage.

How it lives in the room

Hook it, then sit

The two steel hooks go over the front lip of the plank before you put weight on it. Setting the seat down loose and hooking it afterwards is how people end up sliding on the first big cheer.

Mind the bench depth

Most bleacher planks run nine to eleven inches deep; the seat base is 15.7 inches. The overhang at the back is normal and it is what the non-slip strips are for — keep them clean and dry and it stays put.

Carrying and storing

Folded flat it slides behind a car seat rather than filling the trunk. The shoulder strap is the difference between one trip from the parking lot and two, which is the whole argument for a light seat over a heavy one.

Before you order

The 13.3-inch back is lumbar support, not a headrest. It holds the small of the back well and gives you nothing above the shoulder blades — for a full-height back, the taller metal version is the one to look at.
