Deep blue is the choice for a patio that is otherwise all grey and green. How it lives in the room

Plan the second colour

A strong blue set is easier to live with when one other thing agrees with it — a cream umbrella, a striped cushion, a planter. Choosing that at the same time avoids the patio looking like the furniture arrived alone.

Expect it to run warmer

Darker plastic in direct sun takes on more heat than a pale wood tone. It is comfortable in the shade of the umbrella, and it is a reason to put seat pads on the two chairs that catch the afternoon.
