Three positions is the whole proposition. Both leaves up it measures 47.2 by 23.6 inches and seats two to four for a meal. One leaf down it becomes a desk or a prep station against a wall. Both leaves down it is a slim console narrow enough for a hallway. In a flat where the dining area and the working area are the same square metre, one piece of furniture covering three roles is not a novelty but the reason to buy it at all.

How it lives in the room

Three shapes from one X-frame

Work through all three configurations in the first week and note which one the table actually sits in. Most households settle on half-folded as the default and open it fully only for meals. Knowing that before you choose where it lives decides whether it wants a wall, a corner or the middle of the kitchen floor.

Set the shelf heights first

The two shelves are adjustable, and adjusting them with the cabinet full is a job nobody does. Measure the tallest thing you intend to store, a kettle, a stack of bowls, a small appliance, and set the spacing before anything goes in. The metal railings hold contents in place once the heights are right.

Melamine beads water

A melamine coating sheds liquid rather than absorbing it, so a spill sits on the surface long enough to be wiped off whole. The limit is the edge and the hinge line, where water finds the substrate underneath. Wipe along the leaf joints rather than across them, and the coating will outlast the hinges.

Before you order

Folding a leaf with anything still standing on it is the one way to damage this table. The leaf drops faster than expected once released, so clear it completely first, including the placemat that looks harmless.
