The difference between this and the plain galvanised set is a process rather than a feature. E-coating — electrophoretic priming — puts an even layer into corners, weld seams and the insides of tubes before the top coat goes on, which is exactly where powder coat alone tends to run thin and where rust actually starts. If you live where the air carries salt, or where the patio sits in shade and stays damp until noon, that primer layer is worth more than any surface finish. Everything else is familiar: a 67 by 31.5-inch faux-wood top and six high-backed Textilene sling chairs.

How it lives in the room

Protect the coating

A coating system only works while it is intact. Lift rather than drag on stone, and put felt or plastic caps on any foot that will sit on wet ground — the leg ends are where damage starts.

Touch up early

A chip down to bare metal in a coastal yard will show a rust bloom within a season. A dab of matching enamel the week you notice it is the whole repair; leaving it means a wire brush later.

Rinse the salt off

Near the sea, a plain fresh-water rinse every few weeks does more for the frame than any polish. Salt is hygroscopic — it holds moisture against metal long after the surface looks dry.

Before you order

E-coating is under the finish, so you cannot see whether it is doing its job. Treat it as insurance against the corners you never inspect, not as a licence to skip the basic care.
