The installation method here is the thing to plan for: the bottom frame sits in a trench you dig first, then the panels are secured with expansion screws. That is not a greenhouse you stand on a lawn and move next spring, which is the point. A buried base is what keeps 144 square feet of polycarbonate in place when a storm gets under it, and it means the site decision is permanent. Dig on ground that drains, not in the low corner where water collects.

How it lives in the room

Dig the trench before the kit arrives

The base frame is bedded in a pre-dug trench, so the groundwork is a separate job from the build. Mark a square 12 feet on each side, check the diagonals match, and dig to the depth the manual gives. A base out of square makes every panel fight its channel.

Set the roof vents to the season

Vents that open at different angles are the only climate control a greenhouse of this size has. Wide in high summer, cracked in spring, shut in winter. A square 12 by 12 plan heats fast at midday, and a vent left closed on a hot day will cook seedlings that were fine the day before.

Grow up, not just along

A walk-in height frame with support rods overhead takes hanging baskets and climbing supports, which is how 144 square feet becomes enough space for a mixed crop. Plan the tall tomatoes against the back wall and keep the aisle to the door clear of pots.

Before you order

Double-layer polycarbonate diffuses light rather than passing it straight through, which suits leafy crops and seedlings and mildly disadvantages anything demanding full direct sun. It also scratches, so clean the panels with a soft brush and water rather than anything abrasive.
