How it lives in the room

Mount the glass cabinet to the wall side

The cabinet is reversible, so it goes left or right. Put it on the side nearest a wall rather than the open side of the room: glass doors that swing into a walkway get knocked, and a lit display case reads better with a solid background behind the collectibles than with the room showing through.

Give the tower breathing room

The CPU stand lifts the tower off the carpet, which is where dust and heat come from. Leave a hand's width behind the case for the rear fans, and keep the open shelves beside it clear of boxes, because a stand inside a closed-in corner just moves the airflow problem rather than solving it.

Set the lights once, use the sync rarely

App and remote control, multiple colours, music sync. In practice one warm colour at low brightness is what stays on, and the sync gets used when someone visits. Set a default in the app on day one so the cabinet is not reconfigured every time the desk is switched on.

Before you order

Two fabric drawers are soft-sided, so they hold cables, controllers and paperwork rather than anything heavy or sharp. The file drawer takes A4 and letter folders, which is a narrower range than a full office pedestal offers.
