Single-handed assembly of a bed is possible on this frame, and it is worth explaining how rather than just claiming it. The reason it works is that the headboard bolts to the side rails before the rails are joined at the foot, so nothing has to be held upright and level at the same time as being bolted. Lay the parts out in the order the instructions number them, build the head end flat on the floor, raise it against the wall, and bring the foot to it. The one moment where a second pair of hands helps is lifting the mattress.

How it lives in the room

Lay out by number first

Every part is labelled. Sorting them into numbered piles before the first bolt goes in is what turns a ninety-minute build into a fifty-minute one.

Build the head end flat

Bolt the headboard to both side rails while everything lies on the floor. Raising an assembled head end is a single lift; holding a headboard upright while finding a bolt hole is not a one-person job.

Finger-tight, then torque

Run every bolt in loosely, check the frame is square by measuring corner to corner, and only then tighten. A frame torqued out of square is the frame that develops a creak.

Before you order

The video guide is genuinely worth the eight minutes before you start rather than after you are stuck. The one step people get wrong is the drawer rail orientation, and it is much clearer watched than read.
