Sixty-three inches of height on a nineteen-inch base is the specification to think about before the lighting. This is a tall, narrow object full of water, which is why the pebbles supplied for the base are structural rather than decorative and why the stainless steel foot is the part that was engineered. It stands on the floor like a screen, not on a table. The remote runs 16 colors and 8 modes including fade and flash, and bubble volume is adjustable at an air valve under the gravel.

How it lives in the room

Put all the pebbles in

The black gravel looks like a styling suggestion and is not. It is the ballast that keeps a five-foot column of water from being top-heavy, and leaving half of it in the bag because the look seemed cleaner is how these get knocked over. Spread the full amount across the base, level it, and only then start adjusting the air valve underneath for bubble size.

Fill it with purified water

Tap water leaves mineral scale in the air outlet, and the symptom is not a visible deposit but bubbles that gradually go lopsided and then stop on one side. Purified or distilled water avoids it entirely. A few gallons per refill is a small inconvenience next to stripping the base to clear a blocked outlet, and it keeps the acrylic clear rather than hazed.

Then set one color and stop

Sixteen colors with fade and flash modes is a toy for the first evening and a distraction afterward. The arrangement people settle on is a single fixed color, usually cool white or deep blue, with the lighting off during daylight so the bubbles read as water rather than as a display. Flash mode has one real use: a child's room, briefly, by request.

Before you order

Uneven bubbles on first use are normal and adjustable. Lift the base gravel and turn the air valve clockwise for more, counterclockwise for fewer. It is a setting rather than a fault, which is worth knowing before anything gets packed back up.
