Get that right and a seamless 7 by 15 piece across a small yard is indistinguishable from lawn at a glance; get it wrong and every dip and ridge underneath will be visible from a window for years. How it lives in the room

Prepare properly or not at all

The base is the job. Excavate, level, compact, and check with a straight edge across the diagonal — a piece this size will telegraph every imperfection under it, and there is no fixing that afterwards.

Handle it as a two-person roll

A hundred square feet of backed turf is heavy and unwieldy. Roll it into position rather than carrying it flat, and unroll rather than dragging — dragging stretches the backing unevenly.

Secure and fill

Perimeter fixings first, then the infill worked into the pile with a stiff brush. Infill is what holds the blades upright and stops the whole sheet moving; skipping it is why cheap installations look flat in a year.

Before you order

Nails and seam tape are not supplied. For a piece this size on soil, budget for both plus a stiff brush before you start rather than halfway through an afternoon.
