Seventy-one inches by thirty-two is the size that makes six people work properly outdoors. On the long sides that is three seats at roughly 24 inches of edge each; across the 32-inch width there is room for serving dishes down the middle without anyone eating around a platter. The top is HIPS with a wood-grain finish rated to 400 lb, it stands 29.5 inches high which is standard dining height, and there is an umbrella hole in the centre — pre-drilled holes and included hardware mean the build is a short evening job rather than a weekend.

How it lives in the room

Sort the umbrella first

A hole in the table is not a mount. The pole still needs a weighted base underneath it, and the base has to fit between the table legs — measure that gap before buying the umbrella, not after.

Build it upside down

Top face down on the carton, legs on, then two people flip it. Trying to fit legs to a table standing on its feet is how the finish gets scratched and how bolts end up cross-threaded.

Living with it

HIPS holds its shape through frost and damp, so it can stay out. Wipe with water; skip the solvent cleaners, which do nothing useful on a moulded surface and can dull the grain texture.

Before you order

With the umbrella out and the hole open, water runs straight through onto whatever is under the table. Plug it, or do not store anything down there that minds getting wet.
