Straight trunks are easy to manufacture and easy to spot. The curve on this one is the detail that costs more and reads better: the stems bend away from vertical, they cross each other at slightly different heights, and the canopy sits off-centre as a result. That is how a real ficus grows in a pot that spent five years turned toward one window. Silk foliage, moss over a cement fill, seven-inch planter included, and wire in the branches for the final shaping.

How it lives in the room

Find the lean

Turn the pot until the curve reads as a graceful arc rather than a tree falling over. There is usually one rotation where it looks intentional and one where it looks like an accident — the difference is about thirty degrees.

Let the curve show

Do not pull foliage down over the trunk to make the tree look fuller. The bend is the reason to buy this version rather than the straight one; hiding it defeats the purpose.

Balance the canopy

A curved trunk needs slightly more foliage on the outside of the arc to look right, the way a real tree leans toward the light and grows into it. Shape it that way rather than symmetrically.

Before you order

An off-centre canopy over a seven-inch pot means the weight is not directly above the base. Keep it out of the main traffic line, or drop the pot into something wider.
