The step from 47 to 51 inches sounds trivial and is not. Circumference grows by around thirteen inches, which at 24 inches per place setting is more than half a seat, and the usable centre of the table grows more than that — the middle of a round table is where the serving dishes go, and it expands with the square of the radius.
