Choosing between the four-seat and the five-seat version of this set is a floor-space decision more than a seating one. Swapping the three-seat sofa for a two-seater takes roughly a foot and a half out of the longest side, which is often the difference between a set that fits a townhouse patio and one that dominates it. Everything else carries over: olefin rope and breathable Textilene on a rust-resistant metal frame, 6.7-inch seat cushions with 6.3-inch backs in high-elastic foam, and a 330 lb rating per seat for 1,320 lb in total.

How it lives in the room

Measure the long wall

The two-seater is the piece that decides the layout. Tape its width on the ground along the wall or railing where it will sit, then check you still have three feet in front of it for knees and walking.

Face them properly

Four seats want a square: sofa on one side, chairs on the other two, table in the middle. That geometry means everyone can talk without turning, which is the whole reason to buy a conversation set rather than four separate chairs.

Same weather habits

Rope and Textilene shed water, seams hold it. Standing the cushions on edge after a storm takes a minute and is the entire difference between cushions that last and cushions that go musty.

Before you order

If a fifth person turns up regularly, the coffee table is not the answer — a separate ottoman is. Adding one later costs less than starting with the larger set and finding it too big.
