The number that decides whether this works is 0.6 inches. That is the peg height, and it is also how much the floor rises: enough for water to run underneath instead of standing on top, and enough to catch a door that already clears its threshold by nothing. Twelve tiles is a patch roughly three feet by four, which covers a shower bay, a boot landing or the strip in front of an outside tap. Black is the finish that stops showing dirt after the first week.

How it lives in the room

Swing the door before you lay

Six tenths of an inch is nothing until a bathroom door or a garage side door has to pass over it. Lay a single tile loose in the doorway and swing the door before the other eleven go down. If it catches, the fix is to stop the field short of the swing arc rather than to plane the door, because the tiles are the part that comes back up easily.

Press the tabs with a heel

Soft PVC tabs seat with weight rather than force. Align the two edges square, stand on the joint and let a heel do the work, and the tile drops in flat with a click that carries through the sole. Kneeling and pushing with a palm tends to seat one corner and leave the diagonal proud, which is the usual reason a small patch looks wavy once it is wet.

Then size the next pack from this one

Twelve tiles tells you two things the description cannot: whether the bumped face suits bare feet in that spot, and how much of the area actually needs covering. Measure the patch once it is down and count rows rather than square feet, because 11.8-inch tiles do not divide into a room in whole numbers. Order any extension while the production run is still the same color.

Before you order

Soft PVC takes an impression from anything heavy left standing. A planter, a bike stand or a gas bottle parked in one spot for a season presses a permanent dimple into the face, so the rigid polypropylene tiles are the version for static loads.
