Each cabinet shelf takes 35 lb, which is about a dozen hardback books or one mid-sized receiver and nothing beside it. How it lives in the room

Respect the 35 lb shelf limit

Adjustable shelves in engineered wood are held by pins at four points, so the rating is about deflection rather than collapse. A shelf loaded to its limit for a year keeps a slight curve even after it is emptied. Games consoles and streaming boxes are well within it; record collections, amplifiers and stacks of coffee-table books are not.

Two drawers at 14.2 in deep

The drawers measure 14.2 inches deep by 13.4 wide, which is longer than most remote controls and shorter than a rolled blanket. They suit the small stuff that otherwise colonises the top of a console: controllers, chargers, cables, reading glasses. Assign one to things with batteries and one to things with plugs and neither becomes a knot.

Slide the barn doors, never swing them

Sliding doors run on a track top and bottom and they reward a straight push. The common failure is treating one as hinged, levering it outward and pulling the lower guide out of line. If a door starts to drag, the fix is almost always debris in the bottom track rather than the roller itself.

The published dimensions list 58.3 in as depth and 13.8 in as width, which is clearly transposed: this is a wide shallow console, not a deep narrow one. Plan for roughly 58 in of wall and 14 in out from it.
