How it lives in the room

Give the cubby the laptop

The deep cubby is the only part of this headboard that swallows a working device whole. Reserve it for that and keep the shelves for small things. A laptop balanced on an 8.5-inch shelf overhangs by inches and slides off the first time somebody pulls the duvet straight.
