Two pile heights on one mat is the detail that separates this from a strip of carpet. The putting surface runs at 15mm, short enough for a ball to roll out rather than die, and the fringe around it at 35mm, long enough to slow a ball down and punish a putt that leaves the green. That contrast is the whole training value: a flat uniform surface teaches pace that does not exist on a course. Ten feet of length gives a realistic medium-range putt.

How it lives in the room

Fifteen millimetres rolls, thirty-five grabs

Learn where the two surfaces meet before practising anything. A putt that runs off the 15mm green into the 35mm fringe loses pace abruptly, and that edge is the feature worth drilling against: putting from the rough onto the green, and putting across the boundary, are both shots that happen on a real course and both are impossible on a single-pile mat.

Move the slope pad, not the cup

Three cups with removable covers means the hole position changes without moving anything heavy. The slope pad goes underneath to create the break, and sliding it a foot in any direction changes the putt completely. Covering two cups and opening one, then swapping, is a better drill than endlessly repeating the same line, which is what most mats end up being used for.

Roll it loosely, never fold it

The rubber base is flexible so the whole green rolls for storage, and that is the only way it should be put away. A fold puts a permanent crease across the putting surface, and a crease on a 15mm pile is a visible break the ball will follow for the rest of the mat's life. Roll it pile outward and store it standing up.

Before you order

The 5 FT width is measured across the widest points, so the green is narrower elsewhere, and the edges are trimmed by hand. Loose clippings on the surface for the first few days are normal and pat off.
