A 3.23-inch top is roughly three times the thickness of a normal laminated dining surface, and it is the spec that defines this table. That depth is what carries the industrial look, because the edge profile is visible from across the room and reads as a slab rather than a panel. It also changes the clearance arithmetic: at 30 inches overall height, a top that thick leaves less room between the underside and a chair seat than the headline height suggests.

How it lives in the room

A 3.23-inch top eats legroom

Measure from your chair seat to the underside of the table, not to the top of it. Standard dining chairs sit around 18 inches, which leaves roughly eight inches of thigh clearance here once the slab is accounted for. That is enough for most people and tight for tall ones, so sit at it before buying six chairs.

35.5 inches wide fills the centre

Nearly three feet of width is generous for a rectangular table and it is what makes the middle usable: two place settings facing each other still leave a clear band down the centre for serving dishes, a board and a jug. Narrower tables force the food onto the ends or off the table entirely.

Two drawers on the long sides

The drawers are concealed in the sides, which means they open into the walkway and into the lap of whoever is sitting there. Decide at assembly which side faces the room and which faces the wall, because a drawer behind a pushed-in chair against a wall is a drawer you will never open.

Before you order

Chairs are not included, and the listing is explicit about it. The waterproof wood-grain finish protects against spills on the surface but the 3.23-inch edge is where the banding is, and that is the part a vacuum cleaner finds first.
