Corner cabinets trade depth for a diagonal, and the diagonal is what makes this worth considering: the two walls it occupies were already dead space, and the face it presents to the room is narrower than the storage behind it. The catch is that a corner has to be square for the cabinet to sit flat. Skirting boards meeting at a mitre, a pipe boxing or a bowed wall will all hold it off by an inch and leave a visible wedge of shadow down one side.

How it lives in the room

Corners are rarely truly square

Hold a framing square into the corner before ordering, and run a hand along the skirting where the two runs meet. If either wall is out, plan on pulling the cabinet forward a touch and accepting a gap behind rather than forcing it, which racks the carcass and stops the doors closing level.

Door shelves take the small jars

The racks on the inside of the doors are where spices, sauces and packets belong, because a corner cabinet is deepest at the point you can see least. Put small items on the doors, bulky ones on the interior shelves, and nothing goes missing at the back for a year.

Light the dark half

The built-in light exists because a corner never gets daylight. Switch it on and look into the cabinet before you decide the shelf heights: whatever is in shadow with the light on is where you should not store anything that needs finding in a hurry.

Before you order

Two of the four interior shelves are fixed and two adjust, so the tallest item has to suit a slot that already exists. Fit the included anti-tip hardware as instructed, which on a corner unit means finding a stud in one of the two walls rather than either.
