Six hundred square feet puts this in a different category from a car cover. It is a building-sized footprint with no walls, which is useful for a boat on a trailer, a truck and a car together, or machinery that needs to stay dry and ventilated. The practical consequence is the ground: at 30 feet long, a base that falls away by a couple of inches over the run twists the frame, and twisted frames do not seal at the eaves no matter how carefully the panels are set.

How it lives in the room

Walk 30 feet with a level

Lay a long straight edge along the run and check it in both directions before unpacking. Grading a strip of yard is a morning with a shovel; correcting a frame already standing out of true is a day with two people and a jack, and the roof never quite sits right afterwards.

Leave the roof film alone

The protective plastic on the panels does not have to be peeled: it degrades on its own outdoors. Pulling it off a 30 foot run by hand on a ladder is wasted effort and risks creasing the sheet, so fit the panels as they come out of the box.

Install the waterproofing as specified

The water resistance here depends on the sealing parts being fitted, not on the panels overlapping. Find them in the hardware bags before starting and put them in as the instructions dictate, because retrofitting a seal under a sheet that is already screwed down means taking that sheet off again.

At this footprint the carport is a permanent structure in most people's eyes, including a planning office. Check local building limits and any homeowner association rules before ordering, and allow for several heavy boxes arriving separately.
