Not everyone wants a heater in the television stand. This is the same farmhouse look with the budget spent on the cabinet instead — light woodgrain against a dark oak top, two open shelves for the boxes that need line of sight to a remote, two closed cabinets with three-position shelves for everything that does not, and three LED strips that wash the shelves and the base. Fifty-eight inches carries a 65-inch screen.

How it lives in the room

Plan around three holes

The cable pass-throughs are pre-drilled and they decide where the power strip lives. Look at them during assembly, not after the TV is on top.

Anchor it

The anti-tip kit is in the box. On a console this shallow with a large screen on top, it is the single most important five minutes of the build.

Then set the light low

Three strips at full brightness turn a farmhouse console into a display cabinet. At about a third they do what they are for — lifting the shelves out of the dark during a film.

Before you order

Two adults for assembly is a genuine recommendation rather than boilerplate: the top panel is long and thin, and it flexes if one person tries to place it alone.
