Eight drawers arranged as two columns of four has a built-in symmetry that invites a split, and the two most useful splits are quite different. The first is by person: four drawers each, no negotiation, in a piece that takes the floor of one dresser rather than two. The second is by function — clothes on one side, and the other column turned into a vanity, with the top surface above it kept clear for a mirror and a stool pulled up. The 32.3-inch height is high for a seated vanity, so that second option depends on the stool.

Turning one side into a vanity

Cosmetics in the top drawer of one column, mirror above it, and keep that half of the surface clear. The other column carries on as ordinary storage.

Stool height decides everything

At 32.3 inches the top is high for sitting at. A stool around 24 inches makes it work; a dining chair at 18 does not.

Before you order

Black shows dust across a 55-inch top faster than any other finish in the range. If the surface is going to be a vanity, expect to wipe it as part of the routine.
